EcoProtech Oy to build biogas plant in Nokia
EcoProtech Oy and Pirkanmaan Jätehuolto Oy have signed a turnkey contract for the bioplant to be built at Nokia Koukkujärvi Waste Processing Center. Earth moving works start immediately and construction works begin in the summer of 2019.
The plant is expected to be operational in 2020 and it shall process the biowastes of 17 municipalities in the area, as well as the waste water treatment sludges of Nokia municipality. The bioplant shall produce biogas and organic fertilizers.
The amount of different waste streams to be treated is max. 34 000 t/a (24 000 t/a biowaste and 10 000 t/a sludges). Biowaste and sludges are treated in separate lines enabling the biowaste to be produced into organic fertilizers and circulation of nitrogen and phosphorous as nutrients. The plant shall produce biogas 25 GWh/a.
This 2-line plant is the first of its kind in Finland. The sludges are treated in EcoProtech Oy’s proprietary semi-dry digestion reactor and the biowaste is treated in Thöni dry digestion reactor supplied by German MARTIN GmbH. The supply of after treatment / composting unit is also included in the contract.
EcoProtech Oy will execute the contrat with its affiliated companies – Provetek Oy and BioCone Oy. Provetek Oy (www.provetek.fi) is responsible for the construction and installation work of the plant as well as for the production of certain process equipment. The majority of machine and steel structures, including large scale bioreactors, are manufactured by BioCone Oy (www.biocone.fi). The employment impact of the project in the group is at least 60-70 man years.
